Amanda Mena is a sixteen year old sophomore at St.Mary’s High School in Lynn, MA and has been singing since she was 7 years old at the Lynn YMCA. She is an up-and-coming soul singer, recently seen on Season 13 of America’s Got Talent. Mena was able to capture Mel B’s heart and received the Golden Buzzer by singing a rendition of Aretha Franklin’s “Natural Woman”.  Judge Howie Mandel referred to Amanda as a “supernatural talent”. Born in Salem, MA, Mena moved to the Dominican Republic as a baby. She lived there with her parents for four years before returning to settle in Lynn, MA, just north of Boston.  In school, she had a challenging experience because she didn’t know English, and because she looked different from everyone else. Music, and her family, helped Amanda get through that period. Amanda is self-taught having not formally studied with anyone until this competition. Using her natural talent, Amanda embraces her background to influence the musical styles she performs. No stranger to capturing audiences, the young vocalist won the national Spanish-language singing competition called La Voz Kids in 2014 at age of 11. Her talent has brought her to perform on such stages as the Dolby Theatre and on Broadway where she performed ” I Feel The Earth Move” in the Carole King musical Beautiful. Amanda is set to release her debut EP later this year.
